announces a classical guitar concert and masterclass to be given by professor Johan FOSTIER Dates: August to - 2010 PRIEURE LE MESNIL St. MARTIN Haut-Agenais / Périgord The Priory "Le Mesnil Saint-Martin" is located in Southwestern France between Bergerac and Villeneuve-sur-Lot, astride the two Départements of Lot-et-Garonne and Dordogne (in the Périgord region, on one of the ancient pilgrimage routes to Santiago de Compostela). The Priory is actually an old farm. Parts of the building go back to the 13th century, others to the 18th. In the last century, monks transformed it into a Priory and created individual cells, offering modest but adequate comfort for the students who visit us now. Amidst the beautiful tranquility of the forests, hiking routes, villages and rolling hills, this place of rest is now open to cultural activities and for spiritual retreats. Concerts and recitals are given on a regular basis in the Priory Chapel. As the season permits, our visitors can choose to go on hikes, bathe in the lake of Lougratte or travel down the river Dordogne on canoe. Within this marvellous setting, the educational association Le Mesnil des Arts offers courses and masterclasses open to all professional music students or to other artistic disciplines, given by renowned teachers and performers. The courses take place in the Sacristy and in the Chapel. The Priory is ideal for small groups of up to 10 students. . It does not include food and lodging. Inscription deposit: 95,00 € Please only transfer the deposit amount! * If the student cancels his/her participation beyond the inscription deadline, this deposit cannot be refunded. ONLY A LIMITED NUMBER OF STUDENTS MAY ATTEND Lodging in bed/breakfast guest rooms or in nearby "Gîtes de France" (consult us for recommendations) A limited number of students (particularly those without a vehicle) will be allowed to stay at the Priory itself. They will be charged 28.00 € per overnight per person (breakfast is included), 8,00 € for lunch and 8,00 € for dinner. For students lodging at the Priory, we propose a total discount fee of 340,00 € for room and board only. HOW TO TRAVEL TO THE PRIORY LE MESNIL SAINT MARTIN by car: - From the North : Reach the city of Bergerac. Take road N21 in the direction of Villeneuve-s/-Lot and Agen. WHEN YOUR REACH THE VILLAGE OF LOUGRATTE (the first village after Castillonès), take a left towards Montaut. - From the Southwest : Reach the town of Miramont-de-Guyenne. Take the road D1 in the direction of Lauzun and Castillonnès. When you reach Castillonnès, take road D2 in the direction of Villeréal. 3 km outside Castillonès, take a right towards Ferrensac and Montaut. - From the Southeast : Reach the city of Villeneuve-s/-Lot. Take road N21 in the direction of Bergerac - Périgueux. WHEN YOU ARE IN THE VILLAGE OF LOUGRATTE (the first village after Cancon), take a right towards Montaut. - AT THE VILLAGE OF MONTAUT, go on towards Villeréal. Pass the cemetery on your left. Le Mesnil Saint-Martin is indicated towards the left with a blue sign, the first left outside the village of Montaut. by train: - Consult schedules to Bergerac (via Libourne or Bordeaux) or to Marmande. by plane: - London-Stansted --> Bergerac: 1 daily flight; - Southampton --> Bergerac: 1 daily flight; The Bergerac-Roumanière airport is only 32km from the Priory. - From most European cities: Bordeaux-Mérignac airport (140 km. from the Priory) Toulouse-Blagnac airport (162 km. from the Priory) Transfer by bus from Bordeaux Airport or Toulouse Airport to the local train station. Continue by train from Bordeaux to Bergerac or Marmande, from Toulouse to Marmande. We offer a pick-up service for our guests from Bergerac train station and/or airport (36 km) and from Marmande train station (54 km) The service costs 25 € per transfer. Please inform us previously about your arrival time so we can make the necessary arrangements ahead of time.
